How Art Leads STEM in the Chase for Innovation
Toni Matlock is a multi-media artist and entrepreneur. She began early by drawing and classically swirling paint. She shifted toward serious exploration of materials and methods in Chicago which led to studying percussive textile methods at the University of Washington. After more than a decade dedicated to art installations built with primarily her hands, she bounced into trifles with technology implementing video, audio, and artificial light. Matlock also partners with Bruce Tribbensee in a creative production studio developing iPhone applications and making movies. In addition to her professional practices, Matlock is a contributing member of the art community, having piloted a thriving film festival and actively ensuring the success of Missoula Art Museum’s capital campaign and building expansion. She leads training sessions in Empowerment through Mobile Technology and champions the recognition of women in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) through her current venture, Geek Puff.
